CANTON, OHIO (April 22, 2010) – The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has endorsed State Issue 2 on the May 4 ballot. It is an amendment to the Ohio Constitution that permits the relocation of the proposed Columbus gambling casino from the Arena District to the west side of the city at the site of a former auto parts manufacturing plant. Casino gambling was approved by Ohioans in 2009 by constitutional amendment. The specific location of casinos was part of the amendment. Another constitutional amendment is required if the casino developer in Columbus is to choose an alternative site. The Columbus business community believes this new location will be better for overall business development in Columbus. The Canton Regional Chamber believes that the Columbus business community knows what is best for Columbus business development, and therefore it supports the Columbus Chamber in this effort.
