General Chairman Alumni Association hold Annual Dinner
The
Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival General Chairman Alumni
Association held its annual dinner on September 6, 2007, at
Brookside Country Club. The association is comprised of all general
chairmen since the Festival’s inception in 1965, and the members
offer assistance to the Festival in the areas of sponsor
recognition, promoting community awareness, and support in planning
and producing the annual Festival events.
At the
annual dinner, the 14th annual Individual Award of Merit
was presented to John L. Muhlbach, “in recognition of his
outstanding leadership, dedication, inspiration and support of the
Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival.” He has played a major role in
the growth and success of the Pro Football Hall of Fame while
simultaneously offering extraordinary support to the Festival
activities. Muhlbach served for 13 years as secretary and nine
years as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Pro Football Hall
of Fame, and continues to serve as a member of the Board and its
Executive Committee. Ronald W. Dougherty, 1992 General Chairman of
the Festival and current chairman of the Board of Trustees of the
Pro Football Hall of Fame, presented the award to Muhlbach.
Also
presented was the 13th annual Corporate Award of Merit to
The M. Conley Company, generous supporters of the Festival since its
inception, in a variety of ways including significant in-kind
sponsorship of multiple events. The award was presented by John R.
Werren, 1997 General Chairman of the Festival, and accepted by
Richard Conley, recently retired, and Michael Conley, current
president of the company which has had a strong presence in the
Canton community for the past 100 years.
Also a
tradition at the annual dinner is the initiation into the
association of the most recent General Chairman. William T. Schauer,
2006 General Chairman, presented the ceremonial green jacket to
Robert F. Belden, 2007 General Chairman. Belden, who serves as
president of The Belden Brick Company, joins 41 other men and women
who have held this prestigious position over the years, and he was
commended for his extraordinary leadership and dedication to the
enhancement and growth of the Festival.
Tim
Maloney, 1998 General Chairman, was master of ceremonies and was
re-elected to a second two-year term as chairman of the Alumni
Association.
