Ohio Investment in Training Program (OITP)

The Ohio Investment Training Program (OITP) provides financial assistance and technical resources for customized training involving employees of new and expanding Ohio businesses.

OITP provides up to 50 percent reimbursement to fund instructional costs, materials and training-related activities. There is an emphasis on manufacturing and selected employment sectors that have significant training and capital investment related to creating and retaining jobs.

OITP also supports community economic development efforts through job creation and retention. The result is increased employee productivity, improved labor/management relations and a highly skilled labor pool.

The regional OITP Coordinators walk companies through all phases of the application and approval process, at no cost to the business.

On-The-Job Training Program

The On-The-Job Training (OJT) Program operates on the premise that employers make the best trainers for the jobs specific to their industry, and provide the best training sites – the place where the job will be performed. It aids employers in defraying up to 50% of the wages paid to an employee during the training period. In addition, all or a portion of the costs associated with classroom training may also be incorporated into the OJT contract. The OJT contract is meant to offset the initial costs of training and will not necessarily cover the total expense of training.

The employer is responsible for the payment of wages to the employee, but upon submitting monthly invoices the employer will be reimbursed for that portion of the employees’ wages as agreed upon in the OJT training contract.
