Letter from ystark!
Director, Aimee Belden
We are half-way through the year, and it's already been packed full of great activities! So far, we've named our 2010 ystark! Fellow, launched a brand-new website, held our first 'Battle of the Bags' cornhole tournament, hosted our 3rd annual Golf Outing, finished the Dodgeball League, held four Monthly Meet-Ups, three CEO Meet&Eats, participated in countless ystark! committee meetings and just completed our ever-popular Twenty under 40! program. Whew!
And speaking of Twenty under 40!, if I may say so, I think we outdid ourselves again! We celebrated our third class at Gervasi Vineyard & Italian Bistro. The venue was beautiful and a perfect setting to honor the young individuals who serve our community.
As we wrapped up our annual Twenty under 40! program, it made me think of how inspiring our now 60 honorees truly are. All of our award recipients were deserving of this well-regarded honor. They are great mentors in and out of the office and are incredibly giving to organizations in Stark County. I am very humbled and impressed by their leadership and extensive responsibilities. It makes me very proud to be associated with a group of people who are so devoted to helping make Stark County a great place to live, work and play.
Much of what ystark! is about is leading, getting involved and supporting our community. These 60 individuals have done that and I hope they will inspire you to do the same. Raise your hand, volunteer, join a cause, and make sure your voice as a young professional is heard in our wonderful community.

PerplexCity - "A conundrum of ystark! proportions!"
It's back! ystark! presents the 2nd annual PerplexCity. Last year's battle was one of ystark!'s most unique and enjoyed events for our members. The Aultman Team, made it to the finish line after only one and a half hours of pouring over the complex puzzle clues. The winners received gift certificates from some of the local participating businesses including Pete's Grill and Muggswigz.
The 2nd annual PerplexCity will surely be a mêlée of YP's. The clash of ystark! members will commence the eighth month of the year twenty-thousand and ten. No more than five people shall form a party. These factions will travel throughout the kingdom of Canton in search of clues in order to solve the baffling riddle that awaits them. This year, teams will journey a little farther around Canton, discovering new businesses that help make Canton and its YP's one of a kind.
More than just a scavenger hunt, ystark!'s PerplexCity is a great way for YP's to network and socialize while experiencing some of Canton's exciting businesses. So members, grab some friends and join ystark! as it once again takes on a conundrum of epic proportions in the annual PerplexCity.

ystark! Reads...A Page in Your
Professional Development
We know that many of you see value in professional development, but sometimes reading those leadershipy and businessey kind of books can be about as exhilarating as fingernails on a chalkboard! Enter the ystark! Reads, Professional Book Club! We launched this to help you meet other YPs, discuss ideas, brush up on skills and beef up your continued education. Our first read, Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements, was the perfect book to kickstart our club. 'Self-help' book or not, our members felt this bestseller was engaging, short and a great tool to help create a healthier balance in your life. Our Book Club dialogue was unique, insightful and a fun way to spend a few hours. So, stay tuned for the introduction of our second ystark! Reads book...it's sure to be a page-turner!

Intergenerational Action Summit
On June 15, about 100 leaders around Northeast Ohio participated in an invitation-only Intergenerational Summit in Independence, Ohio. The purpose of the summit was to, "blend senior and junior leaders to identify priorities to help the region become a talent magnet and reignite its economy." The meeting was facilitated by Rebecca Ryan and Molly Foley of Next Generation Consulting whose work aids organizations in attracting and retaining young professionals. Rebecca and her team's research was used a few years ago in developing the ystark! initiative in Canton to assist in retaining and attracting young professionals. The summit attendees were comprised of young professionals and experienced, senior leaders. They represented many different organizations and businesses including local politicians, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Clinic, First Energy Corp., Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Sherwin Williams, and the Timken Company along with many others. See a more detailed recap of the event at http://www.ystark.org/forum/topics/intergenerational-summit.

ystark! Dodgeball - This year we had 13 teams competing for the title of #1! The winning team, 'Nate's Bar' took first place in quite the Cinderella-story comeback. All season, the team had been behind, going into the play-offs with a losing 4-8 record. We are grateful to Munson's Home Plate Sports Bar for their league sponsorship. CEO Meet&Eat Luncheon - We hosted our most recent CEO Meet&Eat Luncheon at The Belden Brick Company. After an in-depth (and dusty) tour of one of the brick-making plants, Bob Belden, President and CEO, spoke to a packed audience about the state of the industry, trials and tribulations of a family business and shared some words of wisdom for YPs. Check out the pictures at http://www.ystark.org/photo/albums/ystark-ceo-meeteat-at-the
Monthly Meet-Ups - We took time to hang out and network around town with Monthly Meet-Ups at The Palace, Chili's and The Brownstone. Each had a different flair and flavor, but all proved to provide yummy treats and delicious dialogue!

Ready, Set, RIDDLE!
ystark!'s PerplexCity is back and more perplexing than ever!
ystark!, the Canton Regional Chamber's young professional initiative, is back with round two of the perplexing puzzle game that took downtown Canton by storm last year. The game will be held in downtown and BEYOND on Saturday, Aug. 28, beginning at 4 p.m.
Gather a team of up to five players and make sure that the whole gang is ready for a challenge that will take you all over town in pursuit of confounding clues. You'll discover new and exciting locations throughout the city as you make your way to different businesses on foot and by car.
Each team will receive a clue to kick things off and then hurry from clue to clue, revealing locations in downtown Canton and beyond to explore. Sound confusing? Don't worry, we'll provide instructions for everyone before the game starts.
Remember: your team must hurry to each clue! You'll be competing against 20 or so other teams, all racing you to the finish. The winning team will be the first one to solve ALL of the clues and make it to the end of the game, where they will be lavishly celebrated!
Don't have a team, but still want to play? Sign up as a single and we'll find the perfect team for you to join.
