CANTON, OH (February 4, 2009)Leadership Stark County (LSC) is accepting applications for its 23rd Signature Class now through May 1, 2009.

The LSC Signature Class program benefits individuals, businesses and the community. The program prepares, positions and challenges its civic-minded participants and strengthens personal and professional leadership skills. Businesses whose employees participate in the Signature Class receive immediate and long-term results.

From submitted applications, individuals will be selected for the yearlong Signature program. The program year begins with a two-and-a-half day orientation seminar in September 2009. During each of the following ten months, class members will attend seminars that focus on topics including economic growth and development, human services, education and cultural diversity. Using Stark County as a classroom, daylong seminars provide an in-depth look at broad areas of the community, and then introduce specific skills to enable class members to effect positive change. Beyond the scheduled program days, participants work in small groups, designing and executing projects that address specific community needs.

Signature program tuition is $2,200. Partial tuition assistance is available for individuals representing government, education and non-profit sectors through the Leadership Stark County Scholarship Endowment Fund. Leadership Stark County is an affiliate of the Community Leadership Association and is a department of Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Potential applicants should save the date for a Signature Program Recruitment Breakfast on Friday, April 3, from 7:45 - 8:45 a.m. at the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. The breakfast will feature an overview of the Signature Program, explanation of application process and a Q&A session.
