CANTON, OHIO (June 13, 2011) – The much-anticipated Canton Farmers’ Market returns this summer to downtown Canton. The season opens June 18 with an entirely local selection of fresh produce, along with a bounty of other local products including fresh-cut flower bouquets, delicious pastries, jams, herbs, natural meats, certified organic produce, cheeses and beef, potted plants, fresh eggs, ethnic specialties and more! The Canton Farmers’ Market is held downtown at Cleveland Avenue NW between Fourth & Fifth Streets NW and will run every Saturday morning from 8 to 11:30 a.m. through Oct. 15. The 2011 season promises 20 vendors with a variety of products that arrive from farms and homes within driving distance, picked or made within hours of their arrival at the market. Once again, the Canton Farmers Market will be offering Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SNP) vouchers and WIC vouchers. No-cost activities are scheduled for even more Saturday morning family fun, including children’s art classes led by Sarah Winther Shumaker, organic gardening advice from local expert Cindy Petitti, and cooking demonstrations from Jennifer Wolfe Webb. Each week, live music will fill the air and Aultman Health Foundation will be available for health screenings and healthy living information.
