Join us for the 2018 CEO/Senior Management Breakfast featuring Bob Belden, chairman, president and CEO of The Belden Brick Company. BIO:
Bob Belden is the chairman, president and CEO of The Belden Brick Company in Canton, Ohio. Belden Brick has been manufacturing brick in Northeastern Ohio since 1885. Along with his cousins, Bill Belden, Jr., recently retired Chairman of the Board, John Belden, recently retired Vice-President of Sales & Marketing, Bob represents the fourth generation of the family to manage the Company.
Bob is a native of Canton and is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of ’65. He received a BS degree in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame in 1969 and an MBA in Operations Research/Management Science from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business in 1971.
In 1969, the Dallas Cowboys Football Club of the National Football League drafted Bob in the 12th round. Bob spent the 1969 and 1970 football seasons as a backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Following his retirement from football, Bob completed his MBA studies and was hired by the 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. He worked there from February 1972 until May 1976 in various marketing capacities. In July 1976, he became self-employed by purchasing a membership on the Chicago Board Options Exchange where he spent seven years trading options as a market-maker. In August of 1983, Bob returned to Canton to assume the position of Vice-President/Marketing in the family business. In April of 1995, he was named President of Belden Brick. In April of 2008, he was named CEO, and was named Chairman of the Board in January of 2016.
Bob is married to the former Kathy Keniray of Canton. They are the parents of four children: Christine, 45; Bob, 43; Jim, 41; and Julia, 39; and grandparents of Charlie Belden, 14, Bobby Belden, 13, Danny O’Connor, 10, Jack Johnson, 10, Bridget Belden, 10, Lily Belden, 10, Matthew O’Connor, 8, Samuel Johnson, 8, James Belden, 8, Patrick Belden, 8, Thomas O’Connor, 7, Ella Grace Johnson, 6, Andrew Belden, 4, and John Belden, 4.
