Contradancers Potluck and Concert Sat., Nov. 17, 6 p.m. Letâï¿½ï¿½s load on those calories before we dance them off! Enjoy a potluck before the Contra-dance. Thereâï¿½ï¿½s no sign-up and no coordinating who will bring whatâï¿½ï¿½youâï¿½ï¿½ll really have to take pot luck. The Center will provide coffee, tea, and lemonade. Weâï¿½ï¿½ll also have plates, cups, and cutlery available, but ours are disposable. Bring your own to save a tree! Free, but bring a dish to pass. Civil War Contradance Sat., Nov. 17, 7 p.m. âï¿½ï¿½Contradanceâï¿½ï¿½ comes from the country dances of England and Scotland from the 1600s to the present day. Thereâï¿½ï¿½s a saying in the dance community, âï¿½ï¿½If you can walk, you can dance.âï¿½ï¿½ These slower-paced line and circle dances are geared for the era of hoop skirts. You donâï¿½ï¿½t need a partner, so come by yourself if you wish. You donâï¿½ï¿½t need experience, as all dances are taught on the spot and prompted by the Dance Mistress throughout the dance. If you donâï¿½ï¿½t want to dance, just come to enjoy the music and watch. Come at 6, bring a dish to pass, and join us for the Contradancersâï¿½ï¿½ ,The Anonymous String Band has performed for Revolutionary War, Civil War, and assorted contradances throughout the area for over three decades. The members are well-versed in the music, dress in period costumes, and play instruments that render appropriate color to the music. $8/member; $10/nonmember. $2 discount at the door if you come in period attire, civilian or military.Children 15 and younger half price, if accompanied by an adult.
