CANTON, OHIO (March 1, 2012) – Don’t miss the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant! The completed application and a $68 fee must be received by the Enshrinement Festival department of the Canton Regional Chamber no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 12. Applications and tickets for the 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant are still available at the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Queen Pageant will take place Thursday, May 10, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Canton Palace Theatre. All seats are reserved at $18 each, and tickets can be purchased at the Enshrinement Festival Office, as well as through Canton AAA, and Massillon AAA. The Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant is not a beauty pageant. While overall appearance is certainly an important component, contestants are judged based on personality, poise, beauty, communication skills, academic achievement and service to community. If there is a tie at any point in the judging process, it will be broken by utilizing the scores for personality, poise, and beauty – in that order. Candidates cannot be less than a high school senior and 18 years old by May 1, or more than 23 years of age before Sept. 1, and must reside and, if employed, work within a 30-mile radius of Stark County. A Queen and six Court members will be selected to coincide with the number in the 2012 Class of Enshrinees, comprised of Jack Butler, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin and Willie Roaf. In addition to greeting guests at most of the 18 events during the two-week Enshrinement Festival, scheduled for July 20 through Aug. 6, the Queen and Court will volunteer their time to civic organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Turnaround Community Outreach Center, Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and many more. Certainly one of the most memorable experiences for the Queen and Court will be their ride on the float in the Timken Grand Parade.
