CANTON, OHIO (March 4, 2011) – Don’t miss the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant! The deadline to submit the completed application and a $68 fee is Monday, March 14, by 5 p.m. Applications and tickets for the 2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant are still available at the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Queen Pageant will take place Thursday, May 5, beginning at 7 p.m. at Canton Palace Theatre. All seats are reserved at $18 each, and tickets can be purchased at the Enshrinement Festival Office, Canton AAA and Massillon AAA. The Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant is not a beauty pageant. While overall appearance is certainly an important component, contestants are judged based on personality, poise, beauty, communication skills, academic achievement and service to the community. If there is a tie at any point in the judging process, it will be broken by utilizing the scores for personality, poise and beauty – in that order. Candidates cannot be younger than a high school senior and 18 years old by May 1 or older than 23 years of age before Sept. 1, and must reside and, if employed, work within a 30-mile radius of Stark County. The Queen and seven Court members will be selected to coincide with the number in the 2011 Class of Enshrinees, comprised of Richard Dent, Marshall Faulk, Chris Hanburger, Les Richter, Ed Sabol, Deion Sanders and Shannon Sharpe. In addition to greeting guests at most of the 18 events during the nearly two-week Enshrinement Festival scheduled July 28 through Aug. 9, the Queen and Court will volunteer their time to civic organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Turnaround Community Outreach Center, MRDD and many more. Certainly one of the most memorable experiences for the Queen and Court will be their ride on the float in the Timken Grand Parade.
