Dr. David King, president of Malone University, will speak on one of Stark County’s greatest assets as we look toward the future: higher education.

BIO: David A. King, Ed.D.
On January 1, 2012, David A. King officially began his term as the thirteenth president of Malone University.
Dr. King came to Malone from Eastern University (Penn.), where he had served since 1991, most recently as provost. Prior to that position, he had also served as executive dean and as chief development officer for the Campolo College of Graduate & Professional Studies, as vice president for administration, and as director of human resources.
Dr. King currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Ohio Foundation for Independent Colleges (OFIC); the Executive Committee of the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Ohio (AICUO), is Chair of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference President’s Council; is a member of the Greater Canton Region Chamber of Commerce Board; and, served on the City of Canton Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
He has also served as commissioner on the commission for chief academic officers, Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), board of directors of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), and numerous academic committees. He has been awarded Honorary Life Membership, Distinguished Service Award, Diedrich K. Willers Award, and Excellence in Human Resources Practice Award by CUPA-HR.
Dr. King has earned a B.S. in social work from Eastern Mennonite University; M.S. degrees in human services administration and human resources development from Villanova University; an education management certificate from the Institute for Education Management, Harvard University Graduate School of Education; and the Ed.D. in higher education administration from Temple University.
David and Winnie have two adult children. Justin, a graduate of Syracuse University lives with his wife Catherine, son James and daughter Norah in Merion Station, PA where Justin serves as Director of Enrichment at Simon Gratz High School. Lindsey, graduate of Gordon College and her husband Brian and daughters Mayla and Ramona live in central Massachusetts. Lindsey previously served as a case worker with an agency serving the mentally ill and is now a dedicated full time Mom. Winnie is self-employed as an interior designer and serves as an ambassador for the University.
