CANTON, OH (December 2, 2009) – Several churches in downtown Canton will host Welcome the Light, the second annual open house and tour of downtown churches, on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. The open house is an opportunity for the community at large to enjoy a variety of activities and experience a celebration of the timeless architecture, history and traditions of downtown Canton. With holiday decorations on display, live music including choral performances and organ music, luminaries, a Guadalupe Procession, children’s activities and crafts, and more. The doors will be open for a free evening of activities for all ages. Participating churches include First Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Canton Pentecostal Temple, First Church of the Resurrection, Christ Presbyterian Church, Church of the Savior United Methodist, Salvation Army, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Each church will provide a unique experience and will also include historic information and architectural examples. Maps with complete listings of all activities, highlights for the evening, short church histories, architectural review points, and walking, driving and parking instructions are available online at www.CantonDevelopmentPartnership.com. The maps will also be available at all of the churches the evening of the event and at downtown locations.
