The 2011 HOFEF Ribs Burnoff Competition included eight local and national rib contenders and more than 80 judges. Seven area professional chefs served as judges in selecting the Best Sauce Award winner. The People’s Choice Award winner was awarded based on surveys taken by an anonymous, independent group who surveyed the general public at the event to determine the best ribs at the Ribs Burnoff according to the populous. In addition to fantastic ribs, the annual HOFEF Ribs Burnoff features specialty foods, fun family activities and live music. The Ribs Burnoff continues tonight, Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Stark County Fairgrounds, with a live performance from country artist Phil Vassar. The Ribs Burnoff concludes Friday, Aug. 5, with an evening performance from party band Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes – with special guest Joe Grushecky and the House Rockers.
