CANTON, OH (April 13, 2009) - The Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival department of Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce has named the following key committee chairs for the indoor events: Betty Smith, Fashion Show Luncheon; Ben Stoffer, Enshrinees Dinner; John Runion, Enshrinees GameDay Roundtable; Rick Lerch, Food; and Bob Reolfi, Jr., Staging. The indoor events are held at the Canton Memorial Civic Center and Cultural Center for the Arts.
Smith, executive director of Multi-Development Services of Stark County, will take the helm of the Fashion Show Luncheon committee for the second consecutive year. A graduate of Northeastern Illinois University, she is heavily involved in community activities, including Canton Symphony Orchestra, Leadership Stark County, Weed & Seed Government Program, Zing in the City, Light Up Downtown and Canton Idol. The Fashion Show Luncheon will be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 7, and will feature lively entertainment and state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video, to showcase professional models featuring the season's hottest fashions.
Assisting Smith with the massive details for this world-class event is vice-chairman Angela Dimos.
Stoffer, a graduate of Edinboro and Walsh Universities, is senior vice-president of sales for Business Distribution Solutions. He is an 11-year Enshrinement Festival volunteer veteran, and this will be his second year as chairman of the Enshrinees Dinner committee. A huge Detroit Lions fans, he also serves as a volunteer for the Hall of Fame Game committee and is active in many organizations, including Louisville Touchdown Club and FOE Eagles.
The dinner will be held with activities beginning at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7. The program will feature an emcee of national acclaim, and the presentation of the Hall of Fame/NFL Alumni gold jackets to the 2009 Class of Enshrinees. Serving as vice-chairman of the committee is Charlene Corlett.
Runion has been an Enshrinees GameDay Roundtable committee volunteer since 2001, and this is his first year as chairman. Manager for the Stark County Records Center, he has numerous professional affiliations, including County Archivist Records Managers Association and Ohio Historical Records Advisory Board. His love of sports is evident in his role as secretary of Stark County Girls Softball Association.
The Enshrinees GameDay Roundtable will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9. The event features an unscripted, up close and personal roundtable discussion with the newly-inducted Class of Enshrinees. The personal format allows enshrines to share stories and memories of their careers. Nancy Jedel is assisting Runion as committee vice-chairman.
Lerch is a nine-year member of the Food Committee, with this being his first year as chairman. He brings great expertise to the task via ownership of Nicole's Family Restaurant in East Canton. He is a board member and past-president of Tri-County Restaurant Association, and channels his love of sports through his service as an OHSAA basketball official.
The Food Committee oversees the menu and wine selections, working closely with caterers to ensure the success of food service to 12,000 guests at the Enshrinement Festival's Fashion Show Luncheon, Enshrinees Dinner and Enshrinees GameDay Roundtable. Serving as vice-chairman of the committee is Karen Myers.
Reolfi brings 15 years of committee experience with him to his first year as chairman of the Staging Committee. Sales manager for Esber Cash Register, he donates his spare time as a volunteer at the North Canton YMCA, who recognized his service by naming him Volunteer of the Year and recipient of the Matt Gestling Memorial Award.
The Staging Committee directs the planning, preparation and production of the Queen Pageant, Fashion Show Luncheon, Enshrinees Dinner and Enshrinees GameDay Roundtable. David Kiddey is assisting Reolfi as vice-chairman.
