Leadership Stark County, Leadership Akron and Leadership Medina County are now accepting applications for yearlong leadership programsCANTON, OHIO (March 18, 2011) – Three area leadership programs – Leadership Stark County, Leadership Medina County and Leadership Akron – are now accepting applications for their 2011-2012 classes. Each leadership program equips participants for community involvement and leadership. They offer an intensive study of community issues and interaction with prominent decision-makers, enabling participants to expand their effectiveness as community leaders. “The Leadership Stark County Signature Class provides civic minded individuals the opportunity to enhance leadership skills while gaining a solid perspective of Stark County’s assets and challenges,” said Fran Wells, director, Leadership Stark County. “Through Leadership Stark County and our counterparts in surrounding counties, participants take their involvement and effectiveness in the community to the next level.” Each program begins with a two-day opening retreat. After the retreat, participants spend one full day every month focusing on a certain aspect of their community. Focus areas include: social services, business, government, education and the arts. Leadership Stark County, Leadership Akron and Leadership Medina County all participate in the Northeast Ohio Regional Leadership Network, a group for leadership programs to collaborate and advance regional issues. Individuals must work or live in the county of the respective leadership program in order to apply. Application and additional materials can be found on each program’s website. Leadership Stark County, a department of the Canton Regional Chamber, will be accepting applications for their 25th Anniversary Signature Program through April 22.
