MEET RUTH REICHL, AUTHOR OF DELICIOUS!
Join Stark Library for the next installment of the Dr. Audrey Lavin Speaking of Books Author Series with author, food critic and Top Chef Masters judge Ruth Reichl. She will join us to talk about her books, her experiences as a foodie, and take questions October on 25th at the Canton Palace Theatre.
Reichl is one of the most recognizable voices in the culinary world. She’s an American chef, food writer, co-producer of PBS's Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie, culinary editor for the Modern Library, host of PBS's Gourmet's Adventures With Ruth, and was the last editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine. The Seattle Times called her “one of the most influential figures in the food world.”
Reichl began her food writing career in 1972 when she published her first cookbook Mmmmm: A Feastiary. Since then, she’s delighted readers with bestsellers like Tender at the Bone: Growing up at the Table, Comfort Me with Apples, and, her first novel, Delicious! Her cookbook, My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes that Saved My Life, was named the best cookbook of the year and one of the best books of the year by Amazon.
Her first novel, Delicious! is also this year’s One Book, One Community Stark County selection. One Book, One Community is a collaboration of several libraries in the area which encourages Stark County residents of all ages join together in reading a common book and share ideas through community conversation. This is Stark County’s 14th year participating in the program. More information on One Book One Community Stark County is available at StarkLibrary.org/OneBook.
The Dr. Audrey Lavin Speaking of Books Author Series brings acclaimed writers to Stark County who inspire lively discussion and community conversation while exemplifying literary excellence. It is named for Dr. Audrey Lavin, a local “celebrity” author, a globe-trotting academic, a champion of writers, and a tireless supporter of the Library. The 2018—2019 season includes four special evenings planned at the Canton Palace Theatre.
Each bestselling author will speak about their book, followed by a wide-ranging question and answer session. Books will be available for purchase courtesy of the Friends of the Library.
