CANTON, OH (Aug. 17, 2010) – The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its annual Community Salute Awards, which recognize individuals, businesses or organizations for significant contributions to the Canton/Stark County area. Winners will be honored at a dinner and ceremony Nov. 10 at The University Center at Kent State University at Stark, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Submissions may by calling Nancy Leffler, event manager, at (330) 458-2073 to request a nomination form. Please nominate your choice for Award of Merit and/or Award of Appreciation and submit nominations by Wednesday, Sept. 8. Nominators may submit multiple nominees.
COMMUNITY SALUTE AWARD CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA: Award of Merit – Honors one individual for continuous civic activity, going beyond business or professional responsibilities. Award of Appreciation – Includes the following four categories:
- * Corporations, businesses and organizations: Winner will have enhanced the welfare of Stark County citizens through outstanding success in business or service.
- * Individual business people or professionals: Winner must have demonstrated outstanding performance in his or her profession, which ultimately benefits the community.
- * Individuals in Chamber of Commerce work: Winner must consistently and for an extended period, have demonstrated outstanding performance on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, producing benefits to the civic or business community.
- * Individuals in short-term activity: Winner will have initiated and completed a short-term activity resulting in widespread benefit to the community.
