As Executive Director of Community Building Partnership of Stark County, Inc. (CBP), Maureen Austin provides strategic leadership and oversees the nonprofit community development organization’s neighborhood revitalization programs. She has been with the organization since 2012, serving initially as an Americorps VISTA, has managed the Healthy Neighborhoods program, and assumed the role of Executive Director in 2017.
She has lived in Anchorage, Alaska where she taught natural resource management and planning courses as an Associate Professor at Alaska Pacific University. Prior to joining the staff at CBP, Maureen was the Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator for The Ohio State University Extension in Stark County.
A Canton native, Austin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Kent State University, a Master of Forestry degree from Duke University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in human dimensions of natural resource management from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and has obtained Economic Development Finance Professional certification from the National Development Council. Active in the community, Austin serves as a City of Canton Parks Commissioner, is a member of the City of Canton Tree Commission, and is on The Ohio State University Extension Stark County Advisory Committee.
