Sauerkraut Making/Wild Edibles Meet-Up
Join us this month as we harvest âï¿½ï¿½wild bacterialâï¿½ï¿½ and learn to make our own fermented sauerkraut. Lacto-fermentation transforms cabbage into something incredibly tasty and gives it additional health benefitsâï¿½ï¿½fermented sauerkraut contains a lot of the same healthy probiotics as a bowl of yogurt. Local artist, educator, and wild-food enthusiast Don King will lead this hands-on workshop. Each person should bring a large, sturdy wooden or plastic mixing spoon and a large non-metal bowl. All other materials will be provided. Participants will take away a quart jar of sauerkraut to ferment at home. Limited to 20 participants. $13/member, $15/nonmember. Photo Safari: Prairie Bring your iPhones, tablets, and cameras to TWC this summer for a photo safari. This exciting new program is being funded by a grant from Arts in Stark. In each location, weâï¿½ï¿½ll use our cameras to explore the plants and animals of the area. For the first hour, weâï¿½ï¿½ll wander and take pictures. Then, while you eat your packed lunch, weâï¿½ï¿½ll print your pictures. After lunch weâï¿½ï¿½ll talk about the pictures and mount them for the gallery show. This is a great chance to explore the little things that make up our world. Dress to be outside, bring a camera, phone, or tablet, and pack a lunch.
