CANTON, OH (May 8, 2009) - For the sixth consecutive year, the Downtown Canton Special Improvement District (SID) will "color downtown" Canton in beautiful flowers. On Saturday, May 30, the SID will coordinate a volunteer effort to plant the downtown flowerbeds along Market Avenue with brilliantly colored annuals.
Approximately 150 volunteers are needed for this project. The SID is currently seeking volunteer assistance from area churches, non-profit organizations and community service groups, along with any individuals who want to help beautify our city!
The Downtown Canton Special Improvement District, Canton Development Partnership and the City of Canton are sponsoring the Color Downtown event, and providing the flowers for the project. The City and SID are committed to continuing downtown's beautification efforts by filling the flowerbeds with vibrant color during the summer months.
The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and will be held rain or shine. To volunteer for this enjoyable project, or for more information, please contact Annette Rosenberger, project manager, at (330) 458-2092.
All volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. in the Community Room of Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, located at 222 Market Ave. N. Doughnuts, fruit, coffee, tea and bottled water will be provided. Volunteers are asked to bring gardening equipment for this project.
