Why are you interested in Stark County’s Young Professionals initiative?

I am so supportive of Young Professionals because I feel that it is a place where we can all truly support each other. Support is a big contributing factor when building your career and developing into the type of person you want to be in your community. At Young Professional meetups, you can mingle with like-minded individuals who all want to help each other succeed, which is very refreshing. You can't find that just anywhere.

What would you share to encourage other people to join?

You won't regret it, truly. It is an opportunity to meet new people in your field, introduce you to new opportunities and make lasting friendships. Nobody in the group will turn you away in conversation. Everyone is genuine and it will only take one meetup for you to find someone to click with.

Did you grow up in Stark? If so, where? If not, where did you move from and why?

Yes, plain township.

Why do you stay in Stark County, from both a personal and professional point of view?

I stay in Stark County because I like all that it has to offer. From community events, nightlife and much more. In Stark County, you can get a little bit of everything, both in your personal life and in your career.

What do you like MOST about Stark County?

What I like most is the fact that I can get a little bit of everything. Its diversity is what makes Stark County such a fun and beautiful place to live.

What would you change about Stark County if you could?

If I could change one thing it would be the safety factor in some areas of the county. Crime and drug trafficking are stronger in some areas of the county.

What do you see as valuable opportunities for YPs in Stark County when it comes to career opportunities, cultural access, leadership or community involvement opportunities?

The events that the Chamber holds give a big opportunity for YP's in Stark County, for community involvement and career growth. There are many boards, committees, clubs, and charities that YP's can become involved in to demonstrate leadership and allow them to be involved with their communities. If you visit downtown Canton, you experience many different cultures in one visit. Truly Stark County's diversity is what makes it such a fantastic place to live with unlimited opportunity. You just have to have the work ethic to become involved and meet new people.

What would attract more YPs to Stark County?

A lot of young professionals like to live in big cities or enjoy city living. And I think that there is a stigma attached to downtown Canton that suggests it isn't the same as big city living or that the area isn't safe.

What do you do in the evenings or on the weekends for fun in Stark County or NE Ohio?

On weekends we either got to restaurants/bars or have bonfires/get-togethers at home. With more involvement in the chamber, I have begun to attend more community events- which I wish I would have done sooner.

Could you see yourself spending your lifetime in Stark County and if not, what would cause you to leave?

I do see myself living in Stark County my whole life. If anything we would move for warmer weather in the winters.
