Why are you interested in Stark County’s Young Professionals initiative? |
I like that it shines a light on young adults trying to establish themselves in their careers, and the community. |
What would you share to encourage other people to join? |
It's a great way to network, and get to know other young professionals! |
Did you grow up in Stark? If so, where? If not, where did you move from and why? |
I was born and lived in North Canton until I was 3, but grew up in New Philadelphia. All of my family is from Canton. I moved back to Stark County about 5 years ago for more job opportunities. |
Why do you stay in Stark County, from both a personal and professional point of view? |
I love the diversity of our county, and all of the opportunities it brings. As a makeup artist I get a variety of different bridal, editorial, and individual clients locally, and am close to Cleveland and Akron where the industry is big there as well. Stark County also offers great restaurants, wineries, and recreational activities including live music, art, and festivals. |
What do you like MOST about Stark County? |
I love the rich history that it has. There is so much pride that goes into keeping Stark County and its legacy alive. |
What would you change about Stark County if you could? |
If I could change anything it would be for everyone (myself included) to be more proactive about cleaning up our cities, and caring about the environment more. We have beautiful parks and outdoor spaces that get heavily littered. It would be great to have more community clean up days! |
What do you see as valuable opportunities for YPs in Stark County when it comes to career opportunities, cultural access, leadership or community involvement opportunities? |
There are quite a few opportunities for young professionals if you are willing to stay determined and be bold about what you want! I feel like so many opportunities open up when you ask for them and are willing to work hard. There are also plenty of organizations/events/ groups that you can get involved with to network more. |
What would attract more YPs to Stark County? |
I think more communication of the jobs and other avenues that are available! Initiatives such as this one are a great way to open up people's minds to what all they can do here. Also, providing a stronger social media presence for the things going on in Stark County would be a great way to hold interest, and keep everyone informed. |
What do you do in the evenings or on the weekends for fun in Stark County or NE Ohio? |
I am very much a foodie, so I love going out to eat! My husband and I enjoy grabbing dinner at restaurants throughout Canton, Massillon, and beyond. We also like live music, and being able to go to local coffee shops, bars, and festivals to hear different bands. During the warmer months, I love visiting all of the Stark Parks to bike or walk our dogs. |
Could you see yourself spending your lifetime in Stark County and if not, what would cause you to leave? |
To be successful in the beauty industry, you have to be willing to travel or relocate. I would move to grow me or my husband's career if needed. I also really want to live by the beach eventually! |
