Why are you interested you in Stark County’s Young Professionals initiative?

As a new comer to Ohio, I want to build my connection with the community and prepare myself to fit in the local culture and further contribute to our community.

What would you share to encourage other people to join?

The program is mind-opening and I feel the participants are upcoming future leaders who can help you become a better community member.

Did you grow up in Stark? If so, where? If not, where did you move from and why?

No, I grew up in China. I moved from Charlotte, NC after finished my PhD in graduate school in 2018. The reason I moved to Stark is because I want to work at Timken R&D.

Why do you stay in Stark County, from both a personal and professional point of view?

Personally it's a nice place to work and live; professionally I like my job at Timken.

What do you like MOST about Stark County?

I've been living here in just about a year, so my experience of Stark is very limited. However, I do heard from my peers that Stark has some good school districts.

What would you change about Stark County if you could?

The road condition, my driving experience is not very pleasant sometimes.

What do you see as valuable opportunities for YPs in Stark County when it comes to career opportunities, cultural access, leadership or community involvement opportunities?

YPs are the cornerstone for our county's success in future. The more we connected, the better we communicate, understand and support each other from both professional and personal perspectives.

What would attract more YPs to Stark County?

Good job opportunties, more economic development initiatives, local restaurants and cuisines, museums and disverse social and educational programs for YPs, families, kids.

What do you do in the evenings or on the weekends for fun in Stark County or NE Ohio?

As an international person, I like to contribute to our community as a cultural ambassador to promote global mindset.

Could you see yourself spending your lifetime in Stark County and if not, what would cause you to leave?

Yes I do.
