Why are you interested in Stark County’s Young Professionals initiative?

I was introduced to YStark! when I moved to the Canton area 5 years ago. I started attending meet ups to network and meet professionals in my new area.

What would you share to encourage other people to join?

YStark! is a wonder way for like minded people to meet, to experience new things, and to learn more about our growing community.

Did you grow up in Stark? If so, where? If not, where did you move from and why?

I grew up in Sheffield Lake, OH. I moved to Stark County in July 2014.

Why do you stay in Stark County, from both a personal and professional point of view?

I stay in Stark County because I love my job. I love helping the community and I stay because of the wonderful group of friends I have developed throughout the past few years.

What do you like MOST about Stark County?

I love the parks! Running at the Monument, Jackson Park, and Hiking all over! They are beautiful and the community is lucky to have those resources.

What would you change about Stark County if you could?

There are many families in need in Stark County. It would be wonderful to help families who need more resources.

What do you see as valuable opportunities for YPs in Stark County when it comes to career opportunities, cultural access, leadership or community involvement opportunities?

YP's sometimes get into a groove of starting a career, building a family, and staying inside of their comfort zone. By utilizing YP opportunities we are able to meet new people, expand our minds, and learn all of the amazing things Stark County has to offer.

What would attract more YPs to Stark County?

Events like First Friday are great ways to bring people to the area. Downtown Canton is darling and there are great places to live and work that unfortunately a lot of YP's don't know about.

What do you do in the evenings or on the weekends for fun in Stark County or NE Ohio?

I enjoy attending fundraising events for the non-profit I am involved with, Hannah's House 119; community events like the HOF 5k and First Friday, and trying all of the amazing food in the area.

Could you see yourself spending your lifetime in Stark County and if not, what would cause you to leave?

I'm staying in Stark County!
